Hello, world!

Okay, so this happened. A blog. It’s been a while (more like a decade or two) since I had a place on the web to showcase my work and thoughts. Back in those days I had to type in all the html-code myself. Now WordPress makes life a lot easier I see.

A lot of life has happened in the meantime. I finished my PhD in Astrophysics. I continued with six more years of science, but in a different field (Remote sensing of the atmosphere). I got married. I moved from The Netherlands to the United States. I enjoyed doing science outreach on Kitt Peak, a dark and sacred mountain in the Sonoran desert. I travelled through 13 US states by car, and lived in three of them. But now it seems it’s time to settle down (in Florida). Heck, we even got our first puppy this year!

On this blog you can read more about my background in science, as well as my life-long passions (check out my photography page!) and more recent interests. While I’m switching my career to Data Science, I will also post about the fun and nerdy toy projects I’m playing with, as well as the new skills and concepts I’m learning more about every day.
